Dear Lafayette Families,
The month of April marks the beginning of our summative assessment window. Our Lafayette Leaders will be taking their April Post-Assessments and our 3rd graders will be taking the PARCC assessment for the first time. We encourage families to help to boost their child’s confidence and reduce the pressure that can accompany such testing by reiterating our message that our students have prepared all year to show what they know and now they will rock those tests!
One way to help students become more confident in their abilities is by reinforcing the importance of literacy by reading a little each night. In order to emphasize the importance of reading, Team Lafayette will be holding its first Family Reading Night on April 5th! We invite you to join us for a night of story telling and fun. The goal of this night is to bring children and their families together while imparting the importance of reading and literacy. All families who attend will go home with a book of their own so that we can keep the reading going after the event is over.
As always, I encourage families to connect and communicate with us. Our children’s education is everyone’s responsibility and as a team we can work to support our students in achieving their potential.
